Nelson Mandela was coordinating sabotage campaigns against military and government targets and planning a possible guerrilla war. He claimed he hope to bring down the oppressive government and rebuild the country based on democracy, freedom, equality and above all.

Nelson Mandela's father died when he was the age of nine and he was raised by royalty. Later on in his young adulthood, he became an activist with the African National Congress.
Nelson Mandela’s date of birth was on July 18,1918 and he lived in a village in the eastern coast of South Africa in Mvezo. December 5, 2013. The new President of South Africa is Jacob Zuma.
Nelson was arrested in 1962 after being on the run for 17 months. He was charged with sabotage and attempting to violently overthrow the government and sentenced to life in prison on Robben Island in South Africa. He was released after 27 years
He got more than 260 awards over 40 years and he became the president of South Africa. While he was in prison he was fighting for freedom and people from Africa were protesting for Nelson Mandela for freedom.
